Show of hands: who here has been to a wedding? Most of us, right? What are the normal moments where people tear up? First look with the bride and Dad, first look with the bride and groom, when the bride is coming down the aisle and the groom sees her, their first dance, and Dad’s […]
When Jennifer first reached out to me about doing a an extended family session with 3 generations and 3 families, I was so excited! Families who joyfully love each other and want to remember the chapter of their lives that they’re in right now are my absolute favorite! She let me know that they’d love […]
When I was 9 years old, I decided that when I grew up, I was going to be a marine biologist and work with dolphins! Where that idea came from, I have no idea. It was either from a book, or (more likely) watching “The Adventures of Mary-Kate & Ashley: The Case of the Sea […]
We’ve all heard the expression “Good things come to those who wait,” but that’s never been more true than for Katie and Colin! They met many (MANY) moons ago at a New Year’s Eve party, got engaged after dating for 8 years (8 years? Really, Colin?), and were excited to plan their perfect wedding! Then my new least favorite phrase entered their plans: “And then COVID happened.”
Rather than getting to have their big, beautiful wedding on their wedding date, rather than delaying the whole wedding by a year to next October, they decided to tell COVID, “Up yours!” and got married in a simple, romantic backyard ceremony, with just a few family and friends to keep everyone safe.
Thank you, “Independence Day,” for the helpful “Up Yours” gif!
And you know what? I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect day!
Katie looked gorgeous in her white lace David’s Bridal gown (for more pictures of her looking fabulous, check out her bridal session HERE!), Colin looked dapper and Bond-esque in his navy suit, and everything was splendid!
Because it was a backyard wedding, it was definitely an occasion that they had to put a lot of trust in me for their pictures! I had to get pretty creative to make sure that they had images that were true to their day, as well as stunning enough that they’ll want to hang them on their walls for the next 50 years! Looking at their pre-ceremony bride and groom pictures and her bridal images, you’d never know that there’s an air conditioner 5 feet away from them!
I also managed to find a greenbelt with AMAZING golden hour light right around the corner from the ceremony, and oh em gee, those pictures are SUBLIME! You’d never know that there was a party and socially-distanced Bible study in the background behind them! I don’t mean to toot my own horn, but beep beep!
Katie, I’m so grateful that you thought of me for your wedding pictures, and that we got to reconnect after UNT! You’re one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met, and I’ve loved getting to spend so much time with you again! Colin, this may not be news to you after 8 years and many moons, but Katie is one special lady – cherish her! And okay, I guess you’re a special lady too! 😉
I can’t wait for your big party next October! More fun, more giggles, more fabulous pictures, and more love! Enjoy your pictures, y’all!
