One of the things I love most about being a photographer is capturing families year to year and seeing how everyone changes. When KC reached out to me about maternity portraits for baby #2, I couldn’t wait to head back to Shreveport to photograph her and her beautiful family. If you didn’t know, I’m originally from Shreveport and occasionally travel back for sessions and mini sessions. It’s a nice chance to see everyone and make some new friends, too!

I met the Bicknell family back in 2019 when I did a family session for them, and their son, C, was only a year and a half old. Now, he’s a little bit older and about to be a big brother! Although KC and Patrick haven’t picked out a name quite yet, C is super pumped to have a baby BROTHER to run around with!!! KC’s looking as gorgeous as always and I loved every moment of her Red River National Heritage Center maternity portraits. I mean, seriously, how many pregnant ladies can keep up through the woods in Louboutins?! I wish I could have pulled that off when I was pregnant with my twins.

For their maternity session, I met KC, Patrick, C and their adorable dog Satsy at the Red River National Heritage Center. KC brought two STUNNING gowns with her, which is something I recommend for all mamas during their maternity portraits. We wind up usually using one for family portraits and one of portraits of just mama and that bump. KC had a gorgeous blue gown and a black one too. And she looked INCREDIBLE in both!

This session was so fun and full of giggles! Between C enjoying time with his parents and their dog Satsy being just plain adorable, I had the best time. After some of our family photos, C decided it was more fun to curl up in a blanket and eat some of his snacks… and I can’t blame him. When you’re a toddler, snacks are always the better option. I spent that time with KC, really capturing some portraits of her and her gorgeous bump!

We ended the session at sunset over by the Red River. Even though we were shivering in the wind from the river, when KC saw the back of the camera, she knew braving the chilly weather was TOTALLY WORTH IT!!!

KC, Patrick, C, and fluffy Satsy – I can’t believe how much some of you have grown since the last time I got to work with you! Thank you for trusting me with your Red River National Heritage Center maternity portraits. It was worth the chilly air! I’m so excited to see your adorable faces again so soon, and to snuggle your new addition too! Congratulations!
